Planning a TV Feature Wall with Wall Panels
TV position, cables, materials, proportions and budget: what to decide before you ask for a quotation on a wall panel TV feature wall.
The wall behind the TV is usually the first thing you see when you walk into a living room, and often the plainest. Dressing it with wall panels turns a screen on a bare wall into a deliberate focal point. Good planning matters here more than on most walls, because cables, sockets, cabinets and viewing distance all meet in one place. This guide covers the decisions to make before you ask for a quotation.
Start with how the wall will be used
Before thinking about colours, think about what the wall has to hold and hide.
Fix the TV position first
Decide whether the TV will be wall-mounted or sit on a console, and how high the centre of the screen should be from your usual seat. Every other decision, from panel layout to lighting, follows from this point.
Plan the cables and sockets
Note where the existing power points, antenna and internet outlets are. If you want cables hidden behind the panels or moved to a new position, mention it early. Concealed cabling and new cut-outs count as additional work and are priced into the quotation.
Consoles and built-ins
A low console or floating cabinet under the TV changes where the panels need to stop. Tell us whether the furniture is staying, being replaced or still being chosen, and send its rough height and width.
Think about sound
In an open living area, a hard wall behind the TV can make speech and music sound echoey. If you use the space as a media room, slatted acoustic panels are worth considering. Their specification is quoted per job, so describe the room and how you use it.

Choosing the panel for a TV wall
Each material in our range gives the wall a different character. These are the ones homeowners usually weigh up for a TV wall.
Fluted panels
Vertical flutes frame the screen and give the wall a fine, rhythmic texture. They work especially well when light comes from the side, because the flutes cast soft shadow lines.
Wood-grain planks
Wood-grain panels add warmth and suit homes with timber floors or rattan and fabric furniture. Keep them dry and wipe spills straight away.
Marble-look panels
Gloss PU marble-look panels in Gold, Silver or Black bring a polished, formal feel. Black reads dramatic and makes the screen almost disappear when it is off, while Silver and Gold brighten the wall.

Mixing two materials
Some TV walls combine a central marble-look section behind the screen with fluted or wood-grain panels either side. Mixed layouts change the installation pattern, which is one of the factors that shapes the quotation.
Getting the proportions right
A feature wall looks best when its size relates to the screen, the furniture and the room.
Full wall or framed section
Panelling the whole wall gives a clean, architectural look in smaller living rooms. On a long wall, a framed section centred on the TV can look more balanced than covering every inch.
Lighting
Downlights or a strip of light along the top or sides of a fluted wall bring out its texture in the evening. Any lighting cut-outs or trims are additional work, so mark where you would like them on your photo.
Leave breathing room
Keep some space between the panels and nearby windows, doors or air-conditioner units so the wall does not feel crowded. A little plain wall around the feature often makes it look more intentional.
Budgeting and booking your TV wall
Once the layout is clear, the price follows from the area and the material.
